Known and Unknown
As our attention turns to winter, and thoughts of the summer recede, the forecasters continue their work to attempt to warn us of rain, snow and the like - while also hoping to promise sunshine.
On target with God
Just after Easter quite a few members of our fellowship spent a few days together in the Lake District on holiday. It was a time when we could get to know each other a little better, enjoy the wonderful scenery, and - just as important - have a lot of fun.
Overcoming the un-predictable
The terrible weather of recent weeks – snow standing six-feet-high alongside some roads, and gales blowing it across the streets – is in direct contract to this time last year when the sun shone and it was warm.
Join God’s New Year Honours list
The New Years Honours list made much of our sporting stars. Knighthoods, and other honours meant that all the hard work which went into winning Olympic or Paralympic medals gained another reward. The list also contained hundreds of other names – most unknown to the general public – for services to their different organisations, to local communities and to different charitable concerns.
Peace or Pistols?
The City of Liverpool has provided a beautiful Christmas tree to decorate Manger Square in Bethlehem – a few yards from the spot where Jesus is reputed to have been born. It is a lovely thought that the Lancashire city can play a small part in the celebrations which will take place all over that Middle Eastern town over the festive period. Visiting Bethlehem some years ago was a wonderful experience.
